Mommy to Be Chair Sign || Daddy to Be Chair Sign [c/o PS Weddings and Events]
Last month, Matt and I traveled home to Ohio to celebrate baby girl Lanter. We were so blessed with a beautiful baby shower hosted by our family. The shower had so many special touches and the most gorgeous decor. I’ll be sharing a detailed blog post this week with tons of shower photos. If you are planning a baby shower soon, then don’t miss this post because our family came up with the most creative ideas!
I wanted to blog about my baby shower outfit because I had such a hard time choosing what to wear. I’m a Pinterest girl (duh) and it’s always the first place I go for inspiration. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed… Pinterest didn’t have the outfit inspiration that I expected to find. I know I can’t be the only mama-to-be looking for some ideas on what to wear to her shower, right?
When I started thinking about my look, I knew I wanted to wear a dress, but I had specific things I was looking for… The day of the shower, I was only going to be 27 weeks pregnant, so I wanted to wear something that put my bump on full display. During my pregnancy, I’ve been wearing mostly form-fitting clothes. Funny enough, I actually feel most comfortable in tighter clothes than I do in the typical loose maternity wear. I think I may be an odd duck because it seems like a lot of women want to wear looser fitting pieces while pregnant… Not me, lol.
My dress checklist looked something like this: it needed to be form-fitting, a step up from casual (but not too dressy) and also feminine. I placed several online orders for dresses from different retailers, but the second I tried on this light pink number, I knew I had found my baby shower dress. I chose the Emma Long Sleeve Dress from Susana Monaco in “Nude” and I sized up to a Small, which ended up being the perfect fit. On ShopBop I could tell the dress would be more of a soft pink than a nude and it turned out to be this lovely shade of baby pink. Since I could only see the dress online, I wasn’t sure how stretchy it would be… The material ended up being the softest, stretchiest material and absolutely perfect for a baby bump!
Here’s the bad thing about Ohio, especially in the Fall… You never know what kind of weather you’re going to get. We were so blessed with a sunshiny, beautiful day. Honestly, I chose the perfect outfit for the occasion and the weather.
I wore Badgley Mischka heels on my wedding day, so of course I wanted to keep with tradition and wear them on baby shower day. I chose the Kiara platform pumps and they ended up being way more comfortable than I expected. They run true-to-size and I love Badgley Mischka because their quality is always amazing. These heels matched my dress perfectly! I’m wearing them in “Blush Satin” and they’re currently ON SALE for 40% off!
Jewelry is something I like to keep simple for events that will be photographed. The reason I feel that way is because a lot of accessories tend to be trendy, and I didn’t want to look back and regret any trendy choices. I skipped a necklace and instead wore my everyday diamond stud earrings. I chose two bracelets: a pave link bracelet from Baublebar and a gold rhinestone stretch bracelet from Charming Charlie. My Charming Charlie bracelet was so complimented but sadly it’s sold out online. Below I linked severals similar options for you to shop, and the best part is the reasonable price point.
My mom surprised me with this darling pink and gold sash to wear during the shower from Bridal Bling N Bowtique on Etsy. It was such an adorable touch to help make this mama-to-be stand out.
I can’t forget about undies. Finding the perfect undies and bra for a tight dress while pregnant is NO JOKE, lol. I hate, HATE panty lines. I went with a pair of high-waist Commando briefs because they’re so stretchy and lightweight. As for bras, my most recent favorite is my Third Love Classic T-Shirt bra. Third Love’s website has you take a test and do your own measurements so you get the truest bra fit possible… Love!
Last but not least, let’s talk beauty. I wanted to keep my hair simple but pretty, so I went with my go-to curls. I did use two tracks of clip-in extensions (from The Hair Shoppe here in LA). In case you haven’t already seen this, here’s a tutorial of how I curl my hair using a curling wand.
My makeup was focused on clean, glowy skin with bold lashes and a nude lip. Leave a comment below and let me know if you’d like to see me recreate this makeup look on YouTube.
Let me know in the comments below what you wore or are planning to wear to your baby shower. Did you have a hard time choosing or finding the right look like I did? I’m hoping this post will help some mamas-to-be out there who are searching for the perfect outfit!

I love this look for your baby shower! I preferred form fitting stuff when I was pregnant too. I felt like it made me look more pregnant, so most of my maternity clothes were form fitting other than some sweaters I had because I was pregnant during the winter. My baby shower dress was just a regular dress that I sized up in and it worked so well.
The shower looks like it was lovely, I can’t wait to see the full recap on it! And I’d love to see how you did your makeup 🙂
