We’re not quite ready to let Christmas go at the Lanter house.  We’re still enjoying our decorations, Christmas cookies and classic movies.  We’re trying to squeeze out every last drop of Christmas that we can get, lol.  Honestly, we’re like this every year, but knowing that this was our last Christmas before baby L arrives, makes us want to be sure to really not miss out on anything.

I’ve had the worst leg pains this trimester which has really limited my evening activities.  This is the first year that we’ve been together that we skipped Christmas Eve candlelight church service, but I needed to stay off my feet.  Hopefully next year, we’ll be able to pick up that tradition again.  Otherwise, we held true to every single one of our other Christmas traditions this year (except Disneyland, which my feet absolutely couldn’t handle right now).  Some of those traditions include: baking cookies, going out to look at Christmas lights on Christmas night, breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel and more.

Leave a comment below and let me know if you and your family have any special traditions for Christmas that you look forward to each year.  I love getting new ideas from you about different things we could be doing!

Christmas Home Decor Tour 2017

Christmastime is the best time of year at the Lanter house.  Matt and I LOVE to decorate for the holidays.

Our house still isn’t fully decorated…  But it’s getting there, slowly but surely.  All of our attention has been on the nursery and I can’t wait to finish it!

First up: Our family room.  We added a new tree to the decor this year and I love the way it turned out.  I had red and white in mind for this room and I HAD to have a flocked tree.

For our kitchen, there wasn’t a lot of decorating involved.  I wanted to add wreaths to my counter stools but didn’t get around to it this year…  So it’s on my to-do list for next Christmas.

I did add a pretty white berry wreath above my stove which really cozied up the space.  My mom and cousin made my pretty Noel wreath which now hangs over my kitchen sink.

One of my favorite spaces to decorate is our dining room.  I love changing out my tablescape for the seasons or holidays.  If you missed my Thanksgiving tablescape, see it in this post.  I chose to use my gold flatware and goblets from Thanksgiving also for my Christmas table setting.  I skipped the table runner and placemats and opted for a more simple table, which I think worked out beautifully.

My formal living room is decorated using our tree and mantle decor from our old house.  See our Christmas home tour from 2016 in this blog post.

I typically wrap my tree with ribbon, but this year I tried a different method that I learned from my friend, Emily Gemma’s Insta-story with her sister.  They cut the ribbon into sections and place the ribbon pieces in the tree.  I love the way it turned out!  My mom and I did it together and she used the same method on her tree at home.

Last but not least is our bedroom.  I love bringing a little Christmas to our bedroom to keep it feeling cozy when we go to bed each night.  Since this photoshoot, we’ve added a live boxwood wreath wrapped in fairy lights directly above the bed.

Dining Room Reveal & Thanksgiving Tablescape

My first home tour on Hello Gorgeous was back in 2013.  I was a newlywed and a new blogger at the time.  When I look back at this old post, it’s so crazy to think of how far we’ve come in just four short years.  We now live in a different house and we’ll be a family of three before we know it.  So crazy!

I haven’t shared a tablescape post since 2013 for one simple reason…  I didn’t have a dining table.  Sounds crazy, I know.  Sometime after our first married Christmas, Hello Gorgeous began taking over our home.  We chose to forego our dining room, to have extra space for work.  We had a breakfast bar that we ate 99% of all our meals at.

I really enjoy decorating for holidays; however, practicality won out on the dining room space because of the other 11 months of the year.  Our new house has the space for a dedicated studio/office for me AND a dining room.  Cue the dancing red dress girl emofi here!

It’s been so much fun picking out new pieces for our dining room.  So without further ado, here is our dining room all decorated for Thanksgiving.  Just a head’s up, this room isn’t 100% finished yet.  We’re on the hunt for the perfect buffet and wall decor still.

We fell in love with this dining table in April while visiting 30A, but we had no way of getting it home.  I was able to track it down on Wayfair and it turned out to be the perfect piece.  We paired it with french round back chairs and upholstered end chairs from Restoration Hardware and achieved the exact look I wanted.  Once I find the perfect buffet and wall decor, I’ll show even more of the room.

I wanted to create a beautiful table setting with warm tones.  I’m always looking for a reason to use gold flatware and Thanksgiving is the perfect excuse.  I’m really happy with the way this setting turned out with the burlap ruffled placemats, scalloped charger and delicate Thankful plate.

This post is so delayed because of my centerpiece.  I wanted to create my own centerpiece that fit the room perfectly.  I love to DIY when I can, but sometimes life just doesn’t allow me to put the time into a project that I’d like to.  I decided to keep my everyday soft green runner and began decorating with these cute little white pumpkins I snagged at TJ Maxx.  I added in other pumpkins in various colors and sizes from Hobby Lobby and Homegoods along with my white wood candle holders from World Market.  Something was missing…  So, in came the fairy lights, pinecones and greenery…  Voila!  My centerpiece was complete.

How do you decorate for Thanksgiving?  We have a hybrid of Thanksgiving meets Christmas going on in our house and honestly…  I love it.  We put up our new flocked Christmas tree in the family room and it’s stunning.  I haven’t decided how to decorate it yet, so Pinterest is calling my name!  All items in my table setting are listed below.
