MAJOR Kitchen Remodel – Affordable DIY!

If you’re new around here, then let me introduce you to our Ohio townhouse.

Last summer, Matt was filming his latest project in Toronto.  Since Toronto is only a car trip from our hometown in Northeast Ohio. it seemed like the perfect time to get a place there.  We decided to rent a townhouse but it had quite a few projects to get it looking and feeling more our style.

Here are a few before photos of our kitchen:

The first project we undertook was painting the walls.  Every wall was this terrible pinky nude shade I like to refer to as, “Barbie Flesh”.  We brightened up the space dramatically by painting the walls and trim white.

Then we added a peel and stick backsplash and it was the easiest DIY ever.  It was also so affordable if you have a smaller space like we do!

We added furniture, decor and updated the blinds, switching them to a gorgeous and functional Roman shade.

Next up was those awful floors.  We did another peel and stick there.  The floors changed the space SO much!

No matter how many changes we made, the dark cabinets continued to bother us.  They were so aged and made the room feel smaller than it was.  Matt had been planning to paint them white from the beginning, but we finally had some time this past month and he finally undertook the project.

We both are thrilled with how they turned out!

This is the spray paint gun we used, Matt bought it at Lowe’s.

We used Sherwin Williams Emerald Latex Eurothane in “Pure White”.
