Keim Lumber: A Must-Visit Destination in Amish Country located in Charm, Ohio

Nestled in the heart of Ohio’s Amish Country, Keim Lumber is a fourth-generation family-owned business that has been serving the community since 1911.

Keim Lumber is more than just a lumberyard… It’s a destination for builders, woodworkers, and shoppers of all sorts.

Keim Lumber is located on 50 acres in the rolling hills of Holmes County, Ohio. If you’ve never visited Amish Country in Ohio, then you are seriously missing out. It’s one of our favorite ways to spend a day when we’re back home in Ohio.

The main store is a HUGE warehouse filled with all types of lumber, building materials, and pretty anything you would need to building or remodeling. As impressive as the retail store is, it’s their woodworking mill that is the crown jewel.

Ya’ll, this place is impressive.

During the visit, we were given a special behind the scenes tour and a peek into how it’s done.

This place is huge and these people are talented. They can craft pretty much anything you can think of when it comes to millwork. Getting to see them in action is so cool. They use a combination of futuristic computer programming while at the same time making sure there is still a handcrafted touch.

We had the opportunity to watch as some of the Amish woodworkers were hand sanding what will become an interior door and trim.

We met with one of the reps there and discussed the idea of wood planks on our ceiling. We’re thinking we’d love to create a barrel shape ceiling made of wood planks in our two bedroom hallways. I can’t wait until you guys see it!

There are many things to see and do at Keim Lumber…

• Shop the lumberyard: Keim Lumber has a wide selection of lumber, building materials, and millwork. Whether you’re looking for hardwood for a custom furniture project or pressure-treated lumber for a new deck, you’re sure to find what you need at Keim.
• Visit the woodshop: Keim’s woodshop is a fascinating place to see how custom woodworking projects are made. You can watch the skilled craftsmen at Keim build cabinets, furniture, and other items from scratch. I couldn’t believe the amount of options they had in doors alone!
• Explore the showroom: Keim’s showroom is a great place to get ideas for your next home improvement project. You can see a variety of kitchen and bath cabinets, countertops, flooring, and other materials on display. I loved browsing the kitchen displays for ideas for our renovation project.
• Enjoy a meal at the Keim Cafe.
