Angela, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated your take on this topic. All the technicalities of breastfeeding aside, it’s your attitude towards the whole endeavour that is really heartening. You’re so right that this is such a pressured issue for women and that stress does nobody any favours.
I always said that, sure, breast *milk* is best, scientifically anyway, but breast *feeding* is a whole different ballgame, and none of that makes formula a bad option. You said it yourself, fed is best, and we should all try to live by that motto.
My 3 kids all had a different combination of nursing, breastmilk in bottles, and formula because every baby-mamma-lifestyle situation is different. They’ve all turned out just peachy, and my sanity is (somewhat) intact.
