How To: Highlight and Contour Your Face.. SO Easy!

How To: Highlight and Contour Your Face.. SO Easy!

I promised..  And now I’m delivering!  Here’s my latest video on my highlight and contour routine.

Here’s a little disclaimer though..  Everyone highlights and contours differently.

Highlight and contour is such a personal preference and very much trial and error.  So I really suggest that you experiment with the different techniques and see what works best for you!

Make sure that you try this out with similar products you already have in your makeup collection before you run out and buy all new makeup.  There’s no right or wrong makeup brand in order to highlight and contour.

You really only need a few key products: a highlighting concealer (I prefer in a much lighter/brighter tone than my own skin), a foundation several shades darker than your own skin, a powder to set (may be translucent or your skin tone, whichever you prefer), a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter.

See what I mean?  Any brand will do if it falls within those guidelines.  You don’t need expensive products to get a gorgeous highlight and contour on any face.

So without further ado.. Let’s watch me get all HAC’ed up! 🙂

I love HAC! It's fun! Great job. XO

  • Leanne

Hey! Question – do you need to use a shade lighter than you would normally buy in the highlighting concealer to achieve that lighter look? Or is that the colour you would generally buy for your skin tone? Thanks for posting the video :))

    • AngelaLanter

Hey Leanne! I would say that if you're trying to achieve a lighter look, then go for at least a shade lighter in your highlighting concealer. Even if it's too light, you'll be blending it out with a darker foundation and setting it with powder so it should still turn out gorgeous. Thanks for watching!! xo

Sorry, I'm a natural proof reader…..I think you meant to say in the 3rd paragraph, "Make sure you try this OUT WITH similar products".

  • Melisa

Thank you for posting this! I tried it out today, didn't look as good as yours but I'm hoping practice makes perfect 😉 Xx

Hi Melisa! Try to go a little lighter on the product application then blend.. Maybe that will help. Hope this helps! xo

    Hi angela
Im wondering if u have tried any more natural make up products? I dont use any foundation or concealer because it is all full of so many chemicals. I wanna try some of the more natural products even if its just a tinted moisturizer to try to balance out my skin tone better. I have heard of a product by a company called 100percentpur, and its only made of fruit pigments but im also skeptical on whether they would work or not. If u get a chance maybe u can try some out and let us knkw about some more natural product. Thanks! Love the videos!

    Hi Angela,

How often do you wash the sponge and with what? Also how do you store yours? I have used them in the past but always end up tossing them because I worry the picking up bacteria.
    Thanks in advance!

Hi Karla! So I would suggest using a cleansing formula made specifically for makeup sponges like this: http://www.sephora.com/blendercleanser-P228914?skuId=1151885. That way you know it's getting good and clean and the soap isn't ruining your blending sponge. In regards to how often your sponge should be cleaned, it depends how often you're using it. In my opinion, if you're using it every day of the week, it should be cleaned weekly. I hope this helps! Thanks so much for reading! xo
