Hair Care Friday – Kérastase Review

Hair Care Friday – Kérastase Review

I have commitment issues when it comes to shampoo & conditioner. I usually like to keep at least three different brands in my shower so I can use a different one every time I wash my hair.
It’s all about the smell for me.. Surprise, right? I’ve talked about the smell of other products before, but shampoo & conditioner are huge for me. I like to be able to smell my hair every time I move my head (weird?)
I’m also big into conditioners. I like to deep conditioner at least once weekly. Not only do I have color treated hair, but I’m a terrible split-end picker, so my ends always need extra love and attention.
I kept seeing Kérastase popping up all over the internet, so I became curious. I did some research by reading many online reviews and various beauty blog posts- they all raved about these products! I was so interested that I ordered my first set of Cristalliste and Ciment Thermique. I ordered the shampoo, conditioner and Ciment Thermique. These products are obviously more expensive than what you would pay for your typical drugstore brand, but keep in mind this is a salon-quality L’Oreal line.
The Cristalliste shampoo smells so heavenly.. Really! It’s exactly that just-left-the-salon scent that I’m so obsessed with. This shampoo is silicone, paraben and colourant free and leaves your hair feeling extremely clean but not stripped and dry. I try to only use it on my roots most washes and avoid shampooing my ends whenever possible to keep from drying them out more than they already are. This shampoo lathers easily which I love. I’ve noticed that when I use the Cristalliste products, I can go at least an extra day or maybe even two days between washes, whereas with the TRESemmé shampoo and conditioner I have in my shower right now, my hair needs washed again much sooner.
The Cristalliste conditioner is amazing.. Seriously! I use about a walnut sized drop and focus on my ends working my way up but not applying the conditioner to my roots. I clip my hair up and leave the conditioner in the rest of my shower. When I rinse the conditioner out, my hair has a fantastic moisturized feeling to it. This conditioner does not weigh down my hair even the slightest, and leaves it with gorgeous body even after being conditioned. This conditioner also has a fantastic scent.
The Ciment Thermique is a heat activated leave-in strengthening milk. After removing all extra dampness from my hair, I spray with my favorite leave-in spray and comb through my hair. Then I apply the Ciment to my ends up to about the middle of my hair. I then blow dry and style my hair as usual. When my hair is completely dried, my hair has the perfect amount of volume and is so manageable that I don’t even have to straighten my ends like I usually do (I have very straight hair naturally but I have to run a straightener over the ends to smooth them out and give my hair a more polished look.)
If you’re willing to spend more on your hair care products, I really, really recommend the Kérastase line. I couldn’t be happier with the results I get every time I use this set. This shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatment is worth every single penny to me. These products make my hair the most manageable with the least amount of effort I’ve ever had to use. If you’re not 100% happy with the hair products you’re using now, give this line a try next.. You won’t be sorry! But keep in mind, Kérastase makes many different types of shampoos, conditioners and various styling products, so search their website and see which line would be best for your hair type.
Have a gorgeous day! xo
