In the past couple of years, I’ve become a major fan of the Sex and the City series.. I’ve recently seen what I believe to be every. single. episode. twice. And I love it. I’ve watched it on Style and E! because I feel a whole lot better watching the edited version. But the style.. And the shoes.. Iconic. Carrie Bradshaw and Big?! Die. (Although I’m an Aidan girl too!)
In the first movie, my heart literally stopped when I saw the girls in their wedding get-ups. I mean come on. Who doesn’t dream of their wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses being so insanely beautiful?! A bride with feathers? So very Carrie.
So when I heard that there was going to be a prequel to Sex and the City, I must say.. I was blown away. I mean why mess with perfection? Carrie Bradshaw is one of the most loved television characters of all time! How can they reinvent the magic and the fashion and the friendships and the shoes and the love affairs and the SHOES?
Very skeptically I watched the premiere of the Carrie Diaries. I love AnnaSophia Robb, I mean she was outstanding in Soul Surfer and all, but can there ever really be another Carrie Bradshaw? I think the idea is great, taking the audience back to where it all started, in high school when Carrie begins her love affair with Manhattan.. But it just didn’t quite do it for me. You know why? The fashion. Let’s be real for a second. Would Carrie Bradshaw ever be caught dead wearing an open hoodie in a social setting (i.e. high school)?
However, the outfit she donned at the party towards the end of the show.. Now that was definitely the fabulous Miss Bradshaw circa 1984.
All in all, I can’t say that I’m a fan of the series yet, but I also don’t hate it. So I’m going to keep watching for now, hoping that they can get to the heart of where Carrie really did come from and show how her amazing fashion sense came to be.
And in the mean time, there’s always this guy to keep us entertained!
Couldn't agree more! While I am not completely sold on it, it was a fun watch. 🙂
