See what I mean about the scratches? The lighting in this photo makes the sink appear much whiter than it actually is..
I start with my trusty Clorox with Bleach spray from Target:
I spray all surfaces of my sink (be careful to keep the bleach off your countertops!) and let it sit for a few minutes. I like to open the windows so it airs out a bit. Don’t inhale the fumes if you can help it!
Here’s what my sink looks like after I rinse out all of the Clorox.. It’s much whiter and shinier, but those darn scratches haven’t budged an inch!
So my next step is Bar Keepers Friend. If you’ve never heard of this product before, then you’re in for a real treat. This is a serious miracle worker when it comes to your sink or bathtub.
So make sure all surfaces that you want to scrub are wet or at least damp, then sprinkle liberally with Bar Keepers. I let it sit for about one minute or so and then go at it with a wet rag. Don’t be afraid to use a little elbow grease here! With your rag, use the paste made from the powder and water and scrub away all the scratches and stains. If yours are just surface scratches, they should come right up!
After I rinse away all the powder/paste residue from the Bar Keepers, I dry the sink up with a hand towel. Once completely dry, I break out the handy dandy Windex:
I Windex my sink all up and give it a nice shine.. And voila! Look how gorgeous and sparkly clean my white kitchen sink is now! No more scratches, no more stains, just clean and shiny all over! Here’s my after photo:
Mother Nature is crying with all those chemicals being rinsed down the sink! 🙁 baking soda, vinegar & hot water from a kettle have the exact same effect without the harsh pollutants. A squeeze of lemon cuts the harsh smell from the vingar
