This is my favorite time of year to read because… CHRISTMAS BOOKS!
I start my Christmas reading every year on November 1st, and I have read a ton of books which means I can give you the low down on what to read and what to pass on.
Come this time of year, there’s nothing I’d rather do than curl up by the fireplace with a good book and a hot mug of coffee, Christmas tree in view.
Here’s the deal. I’m a bit of a harsh critic and Christmas books tend to be… Well… Cheesy. As do most Christmas movies.
I’m just being honest here.
So let’s dive in to my list of my favorite Christmas books to date. These are reads that I feel are worth your time, attention, and hard-earned dollars.
The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews does not make my top five Christmas books. I would recommend this Christmas story if you are looking for a clean read, with no real drama, and love Hallmark movies.
It’s just a quick read with all the Christmas feels with several favorite tropes: small town, newly divorced female lead, and more.
My Top Five Christmas Books
- Comfort & Joy by Kristin Hannah. Easily my favorite holiday themed book by easily one of my favorite authors ever. Kristin Hannah can do no wrong in my book… Pun intended. This book is a bit magical and kept me so engaged.
- Love, Holly by Emily Stone. This is the sweetest romance novel that centers around a young woman involved in a lonely hearts writing club. The story will absolutely warm your heart.
- In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren. Another of my favorites is Christina Lauren. Their books do such a great job of storytelling with a bit of spice. This book is no exception. So funny and enjoyable from start to finish,
- Last Christmas in Paris by Hazel Gaynor. It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for a good WWII novel… But PLOT TWIST: This is actually a WWI book. And I absolutely loved it. There’s something about life during wartime that I love learning more about.
- A Home for the Holidays by Taylor Hahn. I just finished this book and loved it. I do wish the ending was different/better BUT I loved the story overall. It a tiny bit reminds me of While You Were Sleeping with the adopted family aspect. If you’re an American Idol fan, you don’t want to miss this one. This is a new Christmas book for me; I had never heard of it till this December.
I have a TON of books I’ve rated 4 stars, so it was insanely hard for me to choose only five books. So I just chose the five that left the biggest impression on me.
