Living in Nashville, Tennessee, you know I have the 411 on outfits for country music concerts.

Especially in the summertime, since it’s the season of country music outdoor concerts.

Last night, we attended our first concert of the season. We went to see Dan + Shay and had the best time.

Let’s break down the anatomy of the perfect country music inspired outfit for concert season.

Before you start thinking about outfit ideas, you need to first consider the venue.

Is it indoors or outdoors? Air conditioned or steaming hot?

Temperature is EXTREMELY important when it comes to outfit planning, y’all. Especially here in the South.

Dan + Shay performed outdoors at 5pm, and it was about 90º. Needless to say, it was HOT.

Listen, we all want to look cute, but there’s no need to pass out while doing it lol.

Here are some of my best tips for keeping your country concert outfit super cute while also weather appropriate in the summertime.

Concert Outfit Ideas

  1. Trade in the jeans and opt for a jean skirt, skorts, or shorts. Exposing skin will help keep you cooler. Skintight jeans are a terrible idea on the high temperature days.
  2. Consider skipping the cowboy boots. Look, I love a great pair of cowboy boots, but they aren’t a great idea if your feet are going to bake in them. I traded in my boots right before leaving the house for a pair of super comfy sandals.
  3. Don’t skip the hat. If you’re going to be sitting out in the sunshine, make sure to wear your cowboy hat. It’ll help keep your face shaded and protected from harsh rays.
  4. Accessorize. If you have to skip the denim, fringe jackets, etc. due to high heat, then accessorize with pieces that accentuate the look while not raising your body temperature. Play around with jewelry, belts, hat, bags, and hat accessories.
  5. Add some bling. A fun way to make any look feel more, “Country” is to add some bling. Whenever you add studs, pearls, fringe, etc. to your outfit, you immediately look ready to party Nashville style.
  6. Only have jeans with you? Consider cutting off your jeans into a trendy pair of Daisy Dukes to pair with your cowboy boots. Denim shorts and boots are always a hit a concert.
  7. Chop it off. If you have a great band tee, why not crop it for a cute summertime look? I love a cropped tee for a concert fit.
