In the past 3 1/2 years of blogging, I’ve never taken this long of a break from posting before. Sometimes life gets in the way of everything and that’s exactly what happened. We found out that Matt’s new show, Timeless, was getting picked up for Fall on the Friday afternoon before last which meant we needed to be on a flight that Sunday morning to NYC for NBC Upfronts. We basically had 36 hours to get our lives in order.
Then came NYC. I always enjoy visiting New York, but this trip was honestly a blur. The crazy intense schedule mixed with the time change left me totally sick. I don’t care what anyone says, that 3 hour time difference between East and West Coast kicks my butt every single time. I got on the plane to fly home to LA on Tuesday feeling like death warmed over. Matt almost took me to the ER when we got home, I was so miserable. I stayed in bed recovering most of Wednesday and Thursday (as much as I possibly could).
On Friday, my sweet blogger friends McKenna Bleu and Megan Runion arrived for the weekend. If you follow me on Snapchat (angelalanter), then you already saw how much fun we had! We brunched in style in Beverly Hills. Cracked up at the Groundlings (LA version of SNL mixed with improv). We shopped at the Santa Monica Promenade. We also ate our way through most of LA. Basically, a fun time was had by all. I love when they come to visit because they motivate me to be a better blogger.
I snatched up this super cozy sweater during our Santa Monica shopping trip on Sunday. I took the girls to Brandy Melville for (I think) their first time. I’ve been shopping at Brandy for as long as I’ve lived in LA. It’s one of my very favorite stores to score casual, simple pieces like tees and bralettes. On Sunday night, I Snapchatted a quick haul of all the goodies I picked up at the store. I wore this outfit while running around town doing a bunch of errands. This look is super casual and not something I would typically blog, but I realized that sometimes you need some real life outfit inspo. Not every woman is getting dressed to the 9’s every day of her life (I’m certainly not!) and this look is for us “real girls,” ya know? These pieces will all be on repeat throughout the summer for me, which is why I wanted to show you some of my summer staple pieces all in one post.
I live for a great pair of denim shorts in the summer. My go to brand for denim lately has been Levi’s and no one does denim shorts like them. These 501’s are comparable to the highly coveted One Teaspoon bandit shorts that every one and their mother (I’m included!) had to have last summer, but they’re more budget friendly (+$30 less and free shipping!)
PS- Matt & I caught up on Game of Thrones last night… My mind is blown. I need counseling. How did I not have “Hold the door” nightmares last night?
Brandy Melville Lance Sweater (one size; linked several other options below) // Levi’s 501 Denim Shorts // Converse Sneakers // Anine Bing Lace Bra // Chloe Sunnies // Red Dress Boutique Saddle Bag // Baublebar Snow Leopard Links Bracelet // Baublebar Gold Mary Links Bracelet // Kate Spade Crystal Bangle // Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch
Sizing Info: Wearing shorts in size 25 (sized down from my usual 26. Honestly, I probably could easily have gone with a size 24, they run that big), sneakers in size 7 and lace bra in XS.
Hi Angela! Love the look, you look amazing in anything! I’m so jealous! You should definitely post more demin shorts and “casual” outfits. I would love to have some inspiration. I hope you’re feeling better from NYC and 100%. Can’t wait for more posts!!
