I worked in Corporate America until just two weeks before I got married. I dressed for daily life under the rules and regulations of those two dreaded words from first grade until my last day at work… Dress code. I hated dress codes. I had to wear uniforms in elementary school and my last two years in high school, which for a girl who loves fashion, is totally miserable. The in-between years, I had to dress according to a super strict dress code. I always had at least one job at all times beginning from the ripe age of 15. Needless to say, I understand what it means to have to “dress for the part” and buy your clothes according to your company’s rules and guidelines.
I love this dress from Vesper for business settings. The high neck paired with the button detail and faux high waist skirt makes for a classic look while still affording a bit of sexiness with the tighter fit. If you like the idea, but find the colors to simple, check out this version with a striped skirt. I love who chic the design is because it’s so reminiscent of a classic 1960’s look.
I chose to pair this dress with my classic tan pumps with a shorter heel for a daytime, office appropriate look. You could easily jazz up this outfit by adding in a pair of beautiful bright shoes or handbag.
