Del Mar Getaway – Part 1

Del Mar Getaway – Part 1

To celebrate our upcoming two year wedding anniversary, Matt & I decided to head off for a relaxing weekend getaway.  We wanted to choose a destination that was only a short car drive away (three hours or less) but still be on or near the beach.  Matt stumbled across the most gorgeous resort, L’Auberge Del Mar, while researching the San Diego area, and we immediately fell in love.  Above are photos from when we arrived at L’Auberge Del Mar on Friday evening.  The really cool part?  You can even take the train from LA, the Pacific Surfliner, and skip the drive if you prefer!
Del Mar is a quaint little beach town located just north of San Diego.  The area is the PERFECT spot for a relaxing weekend getaway.  It had all my favorite things…  Good restaurants, little beach boutiques to shop and a beautiful beach.  I learned that Del Mar is rich with Old Hollywood history, and you know how I feel about Old Hollywood.  *Sigh*
Upon checking in, we were greeted by the most hospitable staff and breathtaking view of the beach and sunset.  Of course I had to put my toes in the sand immediately, so we dropped off our bags to our perfectly beach themed room and headed down towards the water.
Later that evening, we dined at one of the resort’s restaurants, Kitchen 1540, and had an amazing meal next to an outdoor fire and a tree adorned with hanging candles.  (if you follow me on SnapChat, you already saw photos!)

Be sure to check back tomorrow to read more about our weekend in Del Mar!
