My Travel Beauty Must-Haves

My Travel Beauty Must-Haves

When I’m traveling, I typically want a simple and easy makeup look that doesn’t take too much time.  Of course, there are exceptions when we’re traveling for business.  These are my go-to makeup products to create a variety of looks when I’m on the road and living out of a suitcase.
The absolute necessities?  A full coverage concealervolume boosting mascaraversatile lip color and highlight and contour kit.  Of course you also need a peachy nude blush and an eyeshadow palette with plenty of options.  I bring my travel makeup brush kit as well and you can see every brush I recommend in this video.

Love this! Love Sephora brand products and always a MAC lipstick! I am just starting out my lifestyle blog and hope to offer similar things. Thanks for the inspiration!

Sephora and MAC are both fantastic! 🙂

Hi Angela, I'm curious if you can do a tutorial on a really really basic look – something that maybe requires 5 products max and takes 10 minutes. I work in financial services, and I want to be remembered for my work, not for my looks, but I still want to have fun and not look sloppy / like I'm not trying. Can you do something that is a simple foundation, or even recommend a tinted moisturizer, plus some concealer (to hide those dark circles under my eyes from late nights at the office), maybe an easy bronzer / contour (your contouring is so beautiful but it takes so much time and it's too much for me), plus some simple eye stuff and recommend a few liners? Also, how often do you have to fix up your makeup during the day? I've tried primers and applying shadow over my pencil liner but by noon, it smudges down and I have fix it. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Jennie!! Have you seen this makeup tutorial on my Channel yet:

Is this the type of makeup look that you had in mind? I'm a huge CC cream fan (over tinted moisturizer) because of the color correcting. In regards to touch-ups, realistically, I don't feel that you should have to touch your face up any more than once throughout the day, if at all… Lips are obviously a different story. 🙂 Are you using a good setting spray? That can make all the difference in the world! I love these setting sprays:

And I love keeping this mist on hand throughout the day for a freshen up spritz:

One thing you can always find in my bag is a translucent blotting powder. One swipe/pat and the shine is gone:

As for eyeliners, I find that gel liners (especially waterproof) tend to not budge once it's set in place. The only time you'll see some movement is on the waterline. I really suggest swapping out your pencil for a gel liner and see if that does the trick for you.

I hope all of this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!! xoxo

Hi Angela – thank you so much for the reply – I can't believe I missed this five minute tutorial. It is exactly what I was looking for! I never really use a cc cream and have only tried it once from a sample I got in a birchbox.

I'm going to grab a setting spray asap. I notice you use it in almost all of your videos but I've always been hesitant to spray a bunch of stuff on my face like that. Today at work, I had to fix my eyes 3 times, and so I think I will take your advice and get a gel liner, probably the Maybelline Eye Studio that you suggest in this post.

You're so good at this – thanks so much for your help. I am from Illinois and have been living in New York City for the last few years, and I feel like I can trust a fellow midwesterner who moved to one of the coasts!

This was so helpful! Thanks! Maybe you could do skincare for travel? That would be great! What brand is your brush bag?:)

Oh good! So glad to hear that, Alexandra! That's great idea! My makeup bag (for my purse) is Sephora but my brush roll is from my local beauty store. All of my travel brushes and brush roll are in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcSQWRPHwsM
