ANNOUNCING: Hello Gorgeous Online Book Club

ANNOUNCING: Hello Gorgeous Online Book Club

If you follow me on social media (FacebookTwitterInstagramPinterest or Tumblr), then you’ve seen that I’m a book lover.  There’s not much that I love more than getting curled up with a great book and just losing myself in the words.  I love uplifting, lighthearted, positive novels that have an underlying life lesson and leave me with a smile.  Please don’t get me wrong, I devoured the Twilight and Hunger Games series as fast as I absolutely could, but I didn’t finish those books learning anything at all other than how the series ended.

So let’s chat real quickly about my favorite book ever written by my absolute favorite author…

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

If you haven’t read this book, you’re missing out, plain and simple.  This book is the perfect picture of how God pursues us.  I could elaborate on why I love this book for way too long, so I’ll just leave it at every girl needs to read this book.

I give this book: ★★★★★ (DUH!!)

Next, I read Bridge to Haven (audio book).  I loved this book because I have an obsession with Old Hollywood (plus I absolutely love books that are set in different time periods!)  It was so cool to picture Hollywood in the 1940’s and 50’s as various celebrities of that time were discussed (Hello Elvis Presley!!  Y’all know I love me some Elvis!)  The life lesson wasn’t anywhere near as deep or personal for me with this book as it was with Redeeming Love, but I enjoyed this and read it incredibly fast…  It was an easy page turner for me 🙂

I give this book: ★★★★

The Scarlet Thread (audio book) had a different tone altogether from the first two books I read by Francine Rivers.  It has two different stories being told at once, and at times, I found myself getting bored with the secondary story (Mary Catherine) but at other times I couldn’t get enough of the secondary story.  The primary story, however, was a different case.  I still find myself thinking about the two main characters from the primary story, Alex & Sierra.  This book teaches a fantastic lesson to wives about how essential respect and support for our husbands is in order to have the loving, thriving marriage God intended us to have.  I really loved this story.

I give this book: ★★★★★ (4.5 stars)

Now on to what I’m currently reading…

Even Now; Ever After by Karen Kingsbury is currently on my nightstand.  Unfortunately, I’ve tried very hard to get into this book and I just can’t.  I’m going to continue to try since I bought it, and hate the idea of wasting money, but for some reason, I can’t get into the story. I’m actually pretty far along in the first part/book already, I just can’t seem to motivate myself to pick it back up and keep reading.

And now to the exciting news…  I’ve started a Hello Gorgeous Online Book Club!  So if you enjoy reading, and want to join along as we read more positive and uplifting stories, then sign up!

You can join the book club here: Hello Gorgeous Online Book Club
(Once you sign up for an account with my-bookclub, then click the “Find a Bookclub” tab, and search “Hello Gorgeous Online Book Club” and send a request to join.  I’ll accept you once I see your request.)

This month we’re reading…  Yep, you guess it, another Francine Rivers book!

The Atonement Child is first up!  We’ve stopped at Chapter 3 to allow everyone a chance to get started and catch up so we can discuss the book as we go.  I’m listening to this book on Audible currently, which has quickly become my preferred way to “read” since I can listen in the car as I’m stuck sitting in LA traffic  ðŸ™‚

We’re still working out the kinks about how many chapter we want to read a week and all that jazz, but I’d love it if you’d come over and join us in this journey to read some great books and learn some solid life lessons together!

Love this idea! I just started a book club with a bunch of girls in my hometown, but an online one will be so fun as well! Francine Rivers is just great. Can't wait to start reading this book.
