hair care friday – styling tools

hair care friday – styling tools

I have thick, fine, very straight hair. If I let my hair air dry it takes hours. Even though my hair is super straight, I still need a solid straightener to tame any waves or kinks that happen to magically appear (especially when I go to bed with damp hair!)
I’ve been using this Amika flat iron for at least 5 years now and the results are just as amazing now as they were the first day I got it. The price is a little on the higher side at $135, but I would’ve had to replace a cheaper straightening iron at least 2-3 times in the past 5 years I’ve had my Amika flat iron. I’d rather pay more up front for a product that will last me a longer time.
I had quite a few people asked me how I got my curls in this photo:
I used my absolute favorite curling wand, the Nume Titan 3
It’s so easy to use and you can create tons of gorgeous hairstyles with it. Please make sure to always use the protective glove that’s included or you’ll end up with some serious burns- this thing gets HOT! I use my curling wand at an angle to achieve perfect curls. I hold the handle and point the wand toward my scalp at about a 45 degree angle. I hold the hair for 5-10 seconds and voila! You have the most gorgeous curls!
When I curl my hair with a regular curling iron, I’m lucky if the curl will last through that first day. When I use the Nume curling wand, my curls will easily last three days! It’s definitely an investment at $229, but I’ll be using this set for years.
The Nume Classic Ionic Hair Dryer has changed my life.. No, really! Not only is it so funky looking (love my hot pink zebra print!) but it cut my dry time in just about half. I couldn’t believe how quickly it dried my hair the first time I used it! There’s nothing better than not having to spend forever drying your hair.. And this dryer makes that possible! It also is on the expensive side.. It’s on sale now for $179. I would pay every penny and more of that price for a hair dryer that cuts my dry time in half though.
I didn’t pay full price for either of my Nume hair styling tools because I bought an awesome deal through Lifebooker that was $10 for $120 gift certificate. So I got $120 off my curling wand (making it $119 before taxes & shipping) and also $120 off my hair dryer (making it only $69 before taxes & shipping) by using a gift certificate on each. Sadly, Lifebooker isn’t running this deal any longer.
BUT.. Groupon is actually running an amazing sale right now on Nume products- $15 for $120 gift certificate towards anything Nume! This is almost the same sale I got! You can get the code here for the Nume Groupon deal, however, it doesn’t say when the sale is over so I would take advantage of this deal right away so you don’t miss out.
I highly recommend all of the above styling tools. If you have any hair products you would like me to review for Hair Care Fridays, please leave your request in the comments section below.
Have a gorgeous Friday! xo

Hairdressers have always told me that my hair was so straight that it was impossible for me to get curls. Or if I did (like on my wedding day) it wouldn't last long (it lasted 2hours) #Bummer

We're coming to the US this summer 2014 so I'll definitely buy the Nume Titan 3. 🙂

    Thanks for the post!

Hi Iris! I really believe that the reason the Titan works so well is because of how hot the wand gets. You should definitely give it a try!

Awesomee!! Don't know what I love the most: the picture of you and Matt or the info! lol

Btw, do you use heat protectors? If you don't, you definitely should!! My favorite one I bought when I went to the U.S, it's from Schwartzkopf, the "göt2b – guardian angel", found it on CVS or so, I could really see the difference after a couple of months, I have really thin hair so heat does a lot of damage..

    Loving your bloooggg!! Xo,
