First off, the most important question of all…  Do you love, or do you LOVE, my Pretty Woman dress?  If you don’t know what I mean by Pretty Woman dress, what the what?!

Okay, on to the real life stuff.  The stuff Girl Talk Tuesdays are all about.  We’re into a new(er) month, and almost into a new season, so it’s a great time to make some new goals.  Hopefully, these goals we set will turn into {purposeful} habits.

  1. Get 8 hours of sleep.  Some of you may read this and think, duh.  Others may read it and think you could only dream of 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.  I’ve been in both boats…  Currently, I’m in the latter and I need to make some changes.  MacKenlee has been going through this amazing sleep regression which means shorter naps and night wakings…  The days either/both of those occur, I can barely get anything done.  My remedy?  An earlier bedtime.  Starting tonight, my 12:00 bedtime is getting moved up.  7am rolls around really fast, so I’m challenging myself to be in bed by at least 11pm this month.
  2. Drink more water.  I’m actually pretty good about drinking water, but I definitely have days I forget to stay on top of it.  You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces daily for so many reasons.
  3. Read my Bible daily.  Baby girl wakes up at 7am every morning, so I want to get in my quiet time before she wakes up…  Which is another reason why #1 is so important.  My days and attitude are so much better on the days I begin with devotions.  A positive start to the day = a positive flow throughout the day.
  4. Drink a cup of green tea daily.  Around 5pm, I’m ready for a second cup of coffee.  Most days I don’t give into the craving, but the craving is almost always there.  Instead, I’m making myself a cup of green tea.  There are so many benefits to adding tea to your day, just google it!
  5. Cut down on the carbs.  If you recall, I did the keto diet back in May, and I saw quick results.  I was able to keep off the weight, but I realized last week that my diet is almost entirely carbs and protein lately, which is terrible.  So more fruits and veggies are on the menu for this girl.  Tonight, I chose two veggies for sides instead of our usual one veggie and one carb combo.
  6. Read two non-fiction books a month.  I love reading, or rather listening, to audiobooks.  I have a list of non-fiction books I want to read and I’m setting a goal of two books (minimum) per month.
  7. Stop comparing.  It’s easy to slip into the comparison trap.  You can be scrolling through Instagram and then end up down a rabbit hole of of photos and accounts that make you think your life is miserable in comparison.  It’s oh-so-easy to get down on yourself after seeing or hearing someone else’s good news…  But you have to remember, social media (and a lot of conversations too!) are just highlight reels.  Chances are, they have problems just as big as yours.

Love these goals! As a momma of 6 boys it is very easy not to make “me” a priority. Thank you for the reminder to work on myself and my well being. I know I will be a better Mom for it!

  • Do you have a brand of green tea you enjoy best? I have yet to find one I enjoy.

A Korean friend taught me to dip the bag once in hot water, then throw out and use the same bag in a fresh cup of hot water and steep for only a minute. That’s the traditional Korean way to drink green tea and I like it SO much better!

As for brands, I just use whichever organic brand I find!
