Save or Splurge: Summer Swimwear Edition

Save or Splurge: Summer Swimwear Edition

Happy First Day of July!  With summer vacation right around the corner for us, I’m currently thinking about what bathing suits to pack and which styles I want to buy.  There are so many cute suits available this season, but some are just way more expensive than I would like.  I figured that I can’t be the only girl in this shopping dilemma, right?  Below is a list of the trendiest suits of summer and their much more affordable look-a-likes.

Swimwear Trends:

  1. Underwire Suits:  I really love this trend because it’s so reminiscent of the 1950’s swimwear style.  I bought the save version of this suit for only $40 and it just arrived yesterday, so I can’t wait to try it on!
  2. Off the Shoulder Suits:  I love a good clavicle.  These off-the-shoulder suits are so darling and again remind me of the sweet 1950’s styles.  I also purchased this $40 dupe for my upcoming beach vacation!
  3. Keyhole Bikinis:  Keyhole tops have been around for a couple of summers now.  I especially love this style for a little added oomph when you like to create the look of more cleavage.  Get the save version here.
  4. Bandage Bikinis:  Remember when bandage dresses were all the rage thanks to Kim K?  Now we’re seeing bandage bikinis all over the internet.  $350 is way too steep for a bathing suit in my opinion, but I could absolutely jump on the $53 look-a-like bandwagon.
  5. Scallop Edge:  Marysia bathing suits became quite popular last summer and they don’t seem to be going out of style any time soon.  Again, many of us don’t want to spend up to $300 on a swimsuit that may not even be that stylish next summer, so why not try it out in much more affordable version from ASOS?

        Thanks! We have the same birthday numbers! 7 + 5 = 12, 12 – 7 = 5 & we were both born in ’84! ? Haha, I’m such a dork! Happy 4th of July! ??????

Whoops! I sent a laughing smiley instead of a red heart! Fixed it!

Hope you have a wonderful 4th. I love all these bathing suits but until I lose weight. I’m 160 and my goal is 140 I need a bathing suit that has a lot of tummy control.

Thanks Merriann! I wish you luck on your goal! 🙂

This is so true! Why are bathing suits so expensive?! Drives me nuts! I like to keep it under $100. I have a lot of suits. I got two new ones for this summer. A striped-ruffled-off the shoulder one piece and a 1950’s looking two-piece. Can’t wait to wear them! Have a wonderful holiday!

I love the under $100 price point! I’ll spend a little more if it’s a suit that I’ll wear for several yars, like my black crochet one piece from Becca. 🙂

  • I love that pink scalloped swimsuit! I usually get mine at Target or Old Navy. I saw another youtuber do a video about swimsuits and she bought a bunch of cute one pieces at Pac-Sun so I might check them out. I saw your instagram video and hope you get to feeling better. I am glad Matt has been taking care of you.

No link to the keyhole dupe? Am I just missing it? I think if I could afford it I’d probably buy new suits all the time -there are so many cute ones. I’ve always wanted to be one of those roxy surf chicks, you know? I’ve REALLY been wanting the “island hopper” from Albion fit, but it’s so pricey at $128, but a better deal than name brands that are even more because they pay their workers well (or so they say). So sorry you’ve been sick!!! Praying for you right now, and you do have a sweet hubs. Get well soon sister!! ?

I must’ve left it out of the Shop The Post, sorry! The link is here: http://rstyle.me/n/cp2xecy2tw
I need to look up the Island Hopper! I’ll pay more for a suit that I know I’ll wear for several years than I will for something that I think it’s just super trendy, ya know?
