After a week in Vancouver, I’m now back home in LA.  Matt had a four day break so we decided to head home for the holiday weekend.  I had enough time in Vancouver to experience the restaurants, shopping and even squeezed in a spa treatment.  I may do a Vancouver recap and let you know the details about the places I enjoyed over my week long stay…

It’s so good to be home.  There’s no place and no bed like your own.  I love to travel to new cities and take in the sites, but I find myself missing the comforts of home after only a few short days.  We made it back home on Good Friday and had the most low-key, relaxing weekend possible.  We were happy to have a our own kitchen to cook in and made some incredible home cooked meals.  On Sunday, we visited Saddleback Church for the first time and heard a great message from Pastor Rick Warren.  This was the first Easter that I can remember not hosting or attending a big Easter dinner.  It was just Matt and I and some awesome grilled lamb chops for dinner.  I wouldn’t have had it any other way.  We needed the down time together.  In fact, we soaked up every minute of our time together.

Now that Easter came and went, I feel like we can really say that it’s Spring.  Like every other girl out there, I’ve been chomping at the bit to break out the pretty pastels.  I love this gorgeous collar necklace from Baublebar in all it’s Periwinkle glory.  It would be so darling paired with a bright white dress!

I just want to quickly mention that I haven’t shopped Express jeans in years.  I just happened to be walking by Express on a recent trip to the mall and the jeans on the mannequin were speaking to me.  Actually, they were straight up screaming my name.  So much so, that I asked the sales associate to take them off the mannequin so I could make them my own.  And so here I am, the new fabulous light wash flare owner.  I didn’t even try them on in store (which, in hind sight was silly) and they fit perfectly.  If you want to get on the flare bandwagon for spring, I highly recommend this pair for not only the chic fit but the comfort level while wearing.  PS- the fact that they’re currently on sale for 40% off should solidify the fact that you too need to own these jeans.

On another note, Matt’s birthday is quickly approaching, and I’m on a time crunch to get my shopping done.  I’ve picked up a couple things that I know he’ll like, but I’m still on the lookout for some other gift ideas.  Why are men so hard to buy for?  In general, men tend to buy the items that they need or want, which is fine, but come gift time, there’s nothing left to get them.  If you have any great gift suggestions, leave me a comment below!

I’m sure your schedules are crazy right now but maybe get him an “experience” as a gift. Check out LivingSocial and similar websites for fun, inexpensive things to do. Maybe they have some neat things to do in Vancouver or if you have a future trip planned, get him something fun to do in that city! (Ex: a sunset boat cruise in San Francisco).

  • I’ve not seen flared jeans in years!! I used to wear then when I was 13/14 they do say fashion comes back in style. You look great Angela they really suit you x

  • This outfit is perfect for spring! Love the pastel necklace. And I agree that men are terribly hard to shop for. I find though that you can’t go wrong with a pair of shoes or a watch.
