January is stinkin’ cold.  Yes, I’m in California.  No, it’s not really winter here.  But don’t forget, I’m an Ohioan.  I braved +20 brutal winters.  Even though it’s winter, a girl still needs to look cute, am I right?  This dress is so great for winter because it would layer perfectly with tights and/or knee high boots to keep them gams warm.  I personally wouldn’t style this particular dress with over-the-knee boots due to the length…  I don’t suggest wearing OTK boots with a skirt that overlaps.  It’s always more chic to leave at least a tiny bit of skin visible between the top of your OTKs and your hemline.  Not to mention, overlapping a skirt and OTKs will make your legs appear shorter, and that’s never a good thing.  Or just play it safe like I do by wearing OTKs over skinny jeans for an always chic winter look. #LegsForDays

We’re Moving VLOG

150 150 Hello Gorgeous by Angela Lanter

2016 was quite a year for our little family.  We experienced a few ups and our fair share of downs. Matt took on my favorite role yet, as Wyatt in Timeless, which had us moving from LA to Vancouver.  Watch our VLOG of our biggest move yet…

moving from Los Angeles to Vancouver VLOG featuring Matt Lanter and Angela Lanter

It’s so strange to think how different our lives look now compared to this time last year.  So much can change in 365 days.  Change is often uncomfortable, but it is necessary.

I noticed a lot of questions on YouTube about Soka during our trip up the West Coast.  Because our car was totally packed out and we spent very long hours on the road, we decided to leave Soka at home in LA with our friend, Crystal (Soka knows her as Aunt CeCe).  We were only in Vancouver for about 5 days before flying down to San Diego for Comic Con.  I drove up to LA after Comic Con and stayed home for the week, packing up the rest of what we needed while moving…  And doing a ton of purging.  After that, Miss Soka and I flew up to Vancouver to officially move into our new home.

Moving tends to always set the urge for a good purge (I should trademark that rhyme haha!)  If you missed this post all about purging your home, check it out now.  The beginning of a new year is also a great time to start fresh, hint hint!

I’m currently back home in LA for a couple of weeks and the purging is back in full force.  I’ve been working my way through our house, cabinet by cabinet.  Oh girl, let me tell you…  It feels GOOD to be in an organized house.  I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time focusing on anything in a messy, cluttered room.

My plan for this week is to majorly purge my closet.  I’m planning to try on every pair of jeans and pants I own.  I want to start off 2017 with a closet full of only the things I really love.  I’m considering opening my Poshmark store up again…  I’ll keep y’all posted if I do.

Now that the holidays are over, I’m excited to pick things back up here at HG.  I’m ready to get back into my Girl Talk Tuesday series and start creating fun new videos for 2017.  I’d love to hear from you about what you’d like to see more or less of in 2017 on HG.  I’d really appreciate if you could take a few moments to leave a comment below to let me know what would make you happiest to see from me this year.  Is it more lifestyle blog posts?  Maybe more outfit posts?  Or would you prefer more YouTube tutorials?  Whatever it is, please let me know below.  Scouts honor, I read each and every comment I receive!

I love my Gorgeous Girls so much.  I am so thankful for each and every one of you in my virtual family.  I’ll never get over the fact that you care enough to read what I write or watch what I post.  There’s nothing I’d love more than to have some real face-to-face girl talk over coffee with each one of you.

I’m so happy that HG has become a hub where I can connect with each of you.  I love that I can chat with each one of you beautiful babes about whatever topic is at hand (how fun was our Gilmore Girls post?)!  So here’s to a new year together.  A new year filled with happiness, love and laughter with my Gorgeous Girls.

It’s that time of year again…  Time to make our resolutions for the New Year ahead.  If you’re anything like me, you set yourself up for failure before the ball even drops.  I make plans for the coming year that are overwhelming and basically impossible.  Then, before I know it, another year has passed and my goals are the same ones I’ve had for the past 5 years in a row.

New Years Resolutions: 9 Ways to Achieve Your Goals angela lanter hello gorgeous

I took this past week between Christmas and New Years to sit down and reflect on 2016…  On what I did right or wrong, and what I lessons I learned.  I then built a plan for the upcoming year ahead.  This week I carved out some time with Matt to discuss our goals and dreams for 2017, and devised a rough life plan.  This week got me thinking about the practical ways you can ensure that you’re setting yourself up for a successful year…  Which lead me to writing this post, in order to share the wealth with my Gorgeous fam.

How to Set Attainable Goals for 2017

  1. Don’t set yourself up for failure.  Failure in goal setting can happen several ways.  You can take on too much or you can even go into it with the wrong mindset, causing you to fail before you even begin.
  2. Be realistic.  Instead of 25 goals that are humanly impossible to achieve, narrow your list down to the most important goals for this year.  Don’t bit off more than you can chew…  You’re only one person.
  3. Set specific goals.  Drop the blanket resolutions such as, “lose weight.”  Instead, set a specific, yet realistic goal such as: lose 4 pounds per month/1 pound per week.
  4. Find an accountability partner.  My best friend, Megan, and I call each other, “Accountability partners.”  We do this to check in with each other and hold each other accountable whenever we need some truth (spoken in love) injected into our lives or even particular situations.  Find a friend who has a goal(s) for this coming year and schedule a lunch date to discuss how to best hold each other accountable.  When you’re not just letting down yourself, but someone else, by not achieving your goals, you tend to stay more motivated.
  5. Journal.  There is such freedom in journaling.  When I write down my thoughts and feelings, I personally experience an emotional release.  When I re-read my words, I often find myself thinking about my situation differently. Journaling is especially important in goal setting because it helps you to check in and track your progress throughout your journey.
  6. Don’t forget to include spiritual goals.  Including God in my every day life is crucial.  The days I lack to connect with Him feel much different than the days I purposefully make time to get into His Word.  If you’re a Christian, setting Bible reading or devotional goals are a great way to ensure that you’re staying plugged in to God’s Word on a daily basis.
  7. Reward yourself.  Hit a landmark towards one of your goals?  Celebrate!  Allow yourself to indulge once in a while in order to reward yourself for the work you’re putting in.
  8. Buy a planner.  I live my life out of a planner.  My favorite is the Create 365 The Happy Planner.  I use the three columns daily to separate my business and personal plans for each individual day.  I love utilizing planner stickers to brighten up my week and make organizing my time more fun.
  9. Create a life plan.  I’m an avid podcast listener.  The one thing I hear almost every business speaker talk about is life plans.  I think it’s important to set aside time to create a plan for what you want to achieve in your life.

What are your resolutions and goals for 2017?  Leave a comment below with what you want to achieve.  Perhaps writing them down for others to see will help you stay focused in this coming year!
