7 Ways to Pamper your Skin

7 Ways to Pamper your Skin

I often say that you only have one chance to take care of your skin.  Too many of us wait until we see signs of aging before we actually do something about it.  Can you imagine how beautiful our skin would be if we invested into it before we saw tell-tale signs of damage?

My mom and Mawmaw preached skincare to me my whole life.  Mawmaw stayed on me about keeping my face covered when I’m in the sun.  Man, I wish I’d listened to her!  Instead, I cooked myself in tanning beds and laid in the sun every single chance I got.  I’m not sure why being tan was so important to me, but I’d give anything to hop in a time machine and undo all that sun damage.

Now that the sun damage is there, I’m constantly researching and finding ways to prevent further damage and keep my skin looking fresh.  Let’s talk about some ways that any woman can begin investing into her skin.

7 Ways to Pamper Your Skin:

  1. Drink water.  Are you drinking half your body weight in ounces of water daily?  Water consumption helps to rid the body and skin of toxins.  I personally find that my skin is clearer, brighter and better hydrated when I’m drinking enough water throughout the day.
  2. Get adequate rest.  When I’m tired, my skin is usually the first thing to betray me.  After a good night’s sleep, my skin looks brighter, fuller and my dark circles are less obvious.  Beauty sleep is a real thing!
  3. Visit the dermatologist.  Stay on top of your skin medically.  I go to the dermatologist at least once a year to do mole checks and ensure that all of my skin concerns are being addressed.
  4. Always remove your makeup.  Repeat after me…  I will not go to bed with my makeup on no matter how tired I am.  This is the #1 beautiful skin rule!
  5. Watch what you put into your body.  I’m a big believer that what you put into your body shows in your skin.  Consider adding supplements to your regimen that will benefit your skin.
  6. Exfoliate.  This is one of my biggest tips.  So many women forget to add exfoliation to their skincare regimen.  You need to regularly remove your dead skin.  I love using REN Skincare’s Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask which contains Mexican Papaya that helps to exfoliate my skin.  This 10-minute mask brightens and smooths my skin, while removing dead skin cells.  It helps to diminish dark spots and acne scars while also reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  After use, I noticed my skin was softer to the touch while looking brighter and healthier.
  7. Keep your skin moisturized.  Dry skin not only appears dull, but also appears older in my opinion.  Using the proper products to keep your skin moisturized helps to create the appearance of more youthful skin.  REN Skincare’s Radiance Perfection Serum is a great addition to your skincare regimen before you apply moisturizer.  This radiance serum will help to look more energized, radiant and healthy.  It also helps to even out your skin tone.

Thanks for your tips. I am a HUGE believer in lots of water and staying out of the sun. I also see my dermatologist to make sure my speckles and spots are in check (hubby does too!)

I really love getting a Dermaplane. Super relaxing and not painful at all. It removes those baby fine hairs as well as dead skin. I try to do it 3-4 times a year, but if I can’t, then I try to do it when the weather gets drier, and after the winter.

I also LOVE my facial massager. It has silacone nubbies that you put your facial cleanser on (DON’T put your exfoliator on this as you may damage the nubs, plus it would be too much for your skin).
It feels great in the shower and you can use the longer nubs to get around the creases at your nose. You can even use it on your lips. It’s chargable & has variable speeds. This is the one I use and it’s less than $20 on Amazon.

Good for you for staying on top of the derm (and your hubby!)
I’ve been thinking about Dermaplane! Have you done a chemical peel? If so how would you say it compares?

I was just thinking about how to pamper my skin this afternoon! Great minds! ☺️ Great tips! I follow every one! P.S. I don’t tweet, so I think you should paint your nightstand light grey!

We decided to white wash the nightstands! 🙂

Awesome! I saw a little of the process through Instastories. Do you have a finished photo?

        • Angela Lanter

Not yet! Matt is still whitewashing, which will take several coats. 🙂

Thank you for the tips, lovely! I must admit I’m not great at taking care of my skin, it always feels like a chore, but I’m definitely going to take your tips on board and get a good exfoliater bought 🙂

Definitely try a new exfoliator, the results are immediate which is always a great motivator. 🙂

  • Great Tips! What moisturizer would you recommend for someone who is prone to breaking out? I’ve tried many different moisturizers and face wash, but they all break me out like crazy! I guess I just have really sensitive skin, so I have been opting out of really doing anything to my face other than cleaning it with miceller water (which is the only thing I’ve found that has actually reduced my breakouts) Any recommendations would help out a ton! Thanks!!

I am constantly trying to stay on top of a good skin care routine. I am horrible about drinking water, so I always put something in it to make it taste better to me. I am definitely good about making sure I take my makeup off before bed…that is a huge one for keeping healthy skin!!

I find that drinking alkaline water helps me.. Maybe because it’s more expensive, I feel like I need to never waste it, lol!
