If you’ve been following me for any length of time, then you’re already acquainted with my fur baby, Ahsoka.  She is such a bright spot in our days.  When I had the opportunity to partner with Stella & Chewy’s to create this post, I jumped at it because who doesn’t want an excuse to take cute photos with/of your favorite little white dog?!

Stella & Chewy’s were kind enough to send over several of their products for Miss Soka to try.  We started adding in the Meal Mixers to her regular meals and she’s obsessed.  As you can see in the photo above, she wouldn’t even let me get the food in her bowl, she was so excited to eat it.  I love the idea of meal mixers because you are adding it to their normal food, not changing their diet completely.  Soka is prone to tummy upset when it comes to new foods, but I’m happy to report that not only does she love Stella & Chewy’s, but it didn’t bother her stomach whatsoever when we started adding it to her regimen!  Win-win.

Stella & Chewy’s has launched a new campaign called Everyday Awesome.  This campaign is all about how dogs make our everyday awesome and how we can return the favor with their Meal Mixers.  Meal Mixers turn an everyday meal into Everyday Awesome for our fur babies.

Be sure to also check out the Meal Mixer Challenge!  Stella & Chewy’s is encouraging you to post photos and videos of your dog’s excitement over Meal Mixers to their Facebook page or on your Instagram by using #MealMixerChallenge.  Be sure to include the package in your shot.  They’re giving away all sorts of fun prizes!

When I went to write this post, I got all sentimental because, let’s be real…  Soka is our kid.  She truly brings so much joy to our home.  I’m compiling this list of the reasons why having a dog makes your everyday life better for those of you who are on the fence about expanding your family by four little paws.  Feel free to share this post with your roommate, boyfriend, hubby or whoever you need to convince that adding a dog to your life is a great idea.

Why Dogs Make Your Everyday Life Better:

  1. They are a source of joy.  Seriously.  Dog’s were titled “Man’s Best Friend” for a reason.  They provide a source of unconditional love with no strings attached.  Soka instinctively knows when I’m feeling down or not well and jumps right up on my lap or beside me to snuggle.  It’s impossible to stay angry at that little fur face because every time she give you “Precious Moments Eyes,” you can’t help but smile.
  2. They never judge you.  They don’t care if you have bad breath.  Bad hair day?  They won’t notice.  They could care less that you’ve had a terrible day.  You are the same person to them no matter what you do, say or how you act.  They love you without absolutely no conditions.
  3. They help prevent loneliness.  There’s a reason why people tend to get a dog when they’re going through a breakup or the loss of a loved one.  The companionship dogs provide is unlike any human relationship on earth.  They have a way of boosting our spirits without even trying.  We simply give them what they need to survive: food, water, walks.  They give us so much more emotionally than they will ever even know.
  4. They are always happy to see you.  After being gone from home for any length of time, I know that Soka will be happy to see me walk through that door.  It makes me excited to go home because I know she’s waiting for me.  She’s like our own personal welcome committee whether we’ve been gone 5 minutes or 5 weeks.
  5. They help motivate you to get active.  Having a dog makes you want to get outside and move more often.  Walking your dog is good for both of your health.  Soka is a motivator to just get moving, whether to walk, run or play with her.
  6. They boost your mood.  I could have the worst day on earth, but when I walk through that door and see that little fluffy tail wag, I forget my troubles.  Soka may not permanently erase my troubles, but she helps me to take a minute to recharge my mood.

If you are a fellow fur mama, please leave a comment below with your pup’s name and breed!  I love hearing from you guys and y’all know that dog’s have a super special place in my heart.  ❤

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Stella & Chewy’s. The opinions and text are all mine.

I have two abandoned doggies their mommy found her Prince Charming and moved 3000 miles away. Their names are Laila and Cha Cha. They now live with their Maw Maw and Paw Paw in Ohio. Laila is high maintenance she gets her hair done every other Friday and Cha Cha is a 4 pound Chihuahua with a whole lot of attitude. We do love them both.

  • Soka is such a rockstar! What a great post!

  • It’s been a while since I’ve commented on your blog but dogs do hold a special place in my heart too so I just had to come on here haha
I have a 10-month old black and white Pomeranian named Maya! She’s a real ball of fluff and of energy, always jumping everywhere! I adopted her a few months after my other dog died. She was a Pomeranian and passed away 3 days before her 12th birthday. I was 9 years old when I had her so we pretty much grew up together. When I moved out on my own three years ago, she of course came to live with me and made the whole experience of living on my own for the first time less scary. And when she passed away, I didn’t think I could have another dog but at 22, I had spent more than half of my life with a dog and I missed having one too much. And then came Maya and she truly is a source ok joy. As a law student, I’m always swamped with work and stressed out and having her around helps calm my nerves a bit and gives me an excuse to take a break by taking her out for a walk haha
Anyway, that was a lot of sharing but loved your post, Soka is so cute and I couldn’t agree more, dogs really are members of the family!

    Xoxo from Paris

Welcome back, Lexie! Your comments have been missed. 🙂
I love the name Maya! Dogs really do make life better in so many ways! xoxo

My fur baby, Akira, is a 5 and a half year old short hair Saint Bernard and an absolute cuddle bug! She was my parent’s/family’s pet since she was 8 weeks old; however, after we had to put down her “mama” at 12 (another Saint), we felt it best for her to get out of the environment that reminded her so much of mom. I had just graduated college and was looking for a dog because, as you mentioned in your post they help keep you active and fight loneliness and I completely agree! She’s absolutely perfect because we already knew one another and as soon as she got here she snapped out of her funk. I’m always excited to go home because I know my big goober is waiting for me. 🙂

    • Angela Lanter

Akira is such a unique name! Does it have special meaning behind it? It’s the best feeling walking through the door after a long day and knowing that that fur baby is waiting for you!

      • KayLeigh Campbell

At the time we picked it, it was because it just fit her and we liked it’s uniqueness. But over the years we’ve found it’s a female Indian name meaning “graceful strength” which definitely fits her 🙂

I love Soka & this whole post! Dogs really are the best!

  • Michelle Johnson

Love that you did a post on dogs!! And I love seeing your snaps with her! I am a huge dog lover! I shared a Golden named Ruby with my ex and she was a wonderful part of my life and I miss her terribly!(She lives with him) She brought so much joy and I loved taking walks with her.

I grew up around all sorts of dogs that my aunt had. One was part Timber Wolf! She was a gorgeous girl and would howl every time my aunt came home. My aunt currently has two Pits, Prince and Bella, that I absolutely adore! All they want to do is cuddle and have their bellies rubbed! My aunt had found Prince loose in VA a few years ago while visiting my grandparents. He was full of mange, ticks, fleas, etc. and clearly wasn’t taken good care of. They found the owner but my aunt did not want to give him up. My whole family came up with $1500 to take him and they finally said yes. You can tell he is so thankful to be in a good home. He is the best ever!

Thanks Michelle! It’s the worst, when you lose a dog to a break up. I’ve definitely been there before!
I love pits! They’re so sweet and have a terrible reputation which is no fault of theirs. It sounds like you need a pup in your life?

  • Cat Steinbeck

Our boy Buddy the puggle falls under the “rescued dog” category but really I believe he rescued us. November 2nd marked 4 years of our “gotcha” anniversary and we can’t believe how fast time flies by. We are currently fighting MCT and doing everything we can to save him as he has been by our side thru some of our darkest times. He is our baby girl’s best bud and guard and a pure bundle of joy on his own. I can’t imagine life without a best friend/ fur kid like Buddy ❤

    • Angela Lanter

My girlfriend, Lori, has a puggle! Isn’t it funny how that happens with dogs? They change everything for us! Wishing the best for your family & Buddy!!

Love this post! Soka is the cutest pup! 🙂

  • Soka is adorable! Animals truly are sent from heaven. Our furry family member is named Bertha, she was a rescue/foster dog turned adopted, who choose us as a family, it was just meant to be. She is a “chiweenier” (chihuahua, dachsund, min pin mix)!

    • Angela Lanter

Thanks Tabitha! I bet Bertha is a cutie! I have a Chihuahua back home in Ohio. 🙂

  • Love this post. My dog is a border collie crossed with a black lab (he just looks like a lab though) named Oscar. P.s shameless self shoutout: he has an Instagram account @oscar_the_borador

    • Angela Lanter

Thanks Abbey! Why wouldn’t he have an Instagram account? 😉

  • My little fur baby is Cielo (CC for short). She is a 2 year old English Springer Spaniel and her little puppy smile lights up my life!! I also need her cuddles in the morning to get my day going. It’s our little special time of the day together. When she gets excited her upper lip gets tucked into her mouth and she looks like an old man without his dentures. I call it her “grandpa face” – it’s the cutest thing ever!! Thank you for sharing your Soka moments 🙂 I love hearing about other fur babies!

    • Angela Lanter

Puppy cuddles are the best!! Especially first thing in the morning!
Oh my gosh, I’d pay to see that Grandpa Face!! 🙂

  • Stephanie

My husband and I have an adorable yorkie terrier (or should I say terror , when he’s feeling mischievous lol) and although he’s of English descent, we are Italian so his name is Leo Spumoni! ? We love that lil boy and can’t imagine life without him, dogs truly brighten any day? By the way, your dog is adorable?

  • Jennifer

    Hi Angela 🙂

At one point, I had 3 dogs in my house. You could never get quietness in that house. They were always making noise about something haha. Buttons was a teacup Maltese who lived till she was about 16. She died last year. Also, I have a 12 year old Bichon Frise name Casey. She is my absolute favorite. She is getting so old now, that all she does is sleep. She doesn’t have much energy to do anything anymore. Casey looks exactly like Soka with the white curly hair. Every time I see your fur baby, I think of Casey. They both look cotton balls. My other dog is a 11 year old Maltese named Buckle. He thinks he is the ruler of the house. He is always trying to eat Casey’s food. Casey & Buckle never used to like each other but now they can’t stand being apart from each other.

    • Angela Lanter

Oh wow! You’ve got a house full! Sounds like a fun puppy party to me! 🙂

  • Shelby Phelps

When you’re late to the game because you live on a Island with little to no WIFI so you sneak on to your work computer to read the newest blog but am still 2 weeks behind haha. My pups name is Lucy aka Lucy Hawk aka Lucy Boo and she is a labradoodle, she was the runt of the family so she has these cute short legs that stick out that make her look like a seal. 😛

  • Alexis Fraser

    Hi Angela!

I am to a fur mamma I love my baby with all my heart. I have a pit bull named Monte, though many don’t give him a chance because of his breed he is just the sweetest baby boy ever and I could not imagine life without him.

And your little baby is soooo cute!!!

    • Angela Lanter

I love pit bulls, Alexis! They’re such sweet dogs!!

  • Haley Bradley

Your little pooch is so cute! We used to have a dachshund we loved and I want to get another one, but it is just not the right time for us.

    • Angela Lanter

Thanks Haley! Hoping the time is right for you again soon! 🙂

  • Lindsay N Pevny

So, so, so true. I don’t care how much money I spend at the vet, on accessories, food, treats – everything seems so worth it when it comes to having a dog.

  • So so true, all of it! I have 2 seven year old furbabies and they are such joy! I have a Yorkie named Mickey and a wire-haired fox terrier named Jasper. They are such rascals and totally my ‘kids!’ After my husband and I got married in our late 20’s everyone was like “ready for a baby?!” and I was all….”I want a dog!” HA HA!
My Mickey has been diagnosed with a lot of health issues this year. So relieved to have answers and a plan, but my boy is now on a totally hypo-allergenic pre-digested protein diet for chronic Inflammatory Bowel Disease and also on meds for collapsible airway disease. So many trials and tests and OMG so much money but they are my babies so I could never consider any other alternative. I’m so happy to be seeing positive results and hope we can one day add back some other things to his diet, like these mix-ins. Let’s just say hypoallergenic dog food….you can imagine how NOT satisfying that is for him!
    Thanks for the awesome post!

    • Angela Lanter

I’m so glad you’re seeing positive results, Kellie! They really are our babies! 🙂

  • Teacup Maltipoo

Puppy cuddles are the best!! Especially first thing in the morning!
