If you know me at all, then you know my love for Old Hollywood.  The iconic Palm Springs sign has Old Hollywood written all over it…  So naturally I had to have a photoshoot with it.

When I see the green and white sign, I see starlets from the 40’s and 50’s driving by in their convertibles with their scarves waving in the wind.  I’m definitely an old soul.

These photos were taken during our Coachella weekend last month.  We had such a whirlwind trip, and hit the ground running since we’ve been back, so I’m super late posting these (and one other set of photos too!)

When I’m in the desert, my skin and hair behaves differently than when I’m in LA.  The climate is so dry, which in turn dries me out.  I find that the drier the climate, the oilier my skin gets.  My #1 piece of advice for any desert trip is to hydrate.  You know that feeling when you drink too much water and you feel like you could float out of the room?  That’s just a starting point for the level of hydration your body needs when you’re in such dry conditions.

Speaking of dry weather (Lord, please send us some rain!) I hope that everyone had the loveliest Memorial Day Weekend.  Leave a comment below and tell me what you did this holiday weekend!  If you follow me on Snapchat, I snapped a lot of our weekend.  Sunday we drove up to Malibu and had a fabulous afternoon/evening with friends.  On Monday, we hosted a party and I cooked literally all day long.  I was a hot mess by the time I finished.  I cooked: BBQ pulled chicken (crockpot), Bean casserole (delicious! I call this dish “Cowboy Beans” even though it’s technically not the right name, Ruth Chris sweet potato casserole, grape salad, creamy mac & cheese (in the crockpot), strawberry pretzel salad and ice cream sandwich cake.  Matt smoked the most insane BBQ ribs.  I’m exhausted today, lol!

So hot there! But the area is so beautiful! 🙂

  • We used the holiday weekend to travel around Japan and visit the beautiful island of Miyajima while being stationed out here. Seeing your pics brings back great memories from the time we were stationed in Cali. Love Palm Springs but definitely too hot during the summer months.

That sounds positively amazing! I would love to travel to Japan and explore! I can’t imagine how different the culture is…
You’re so right, it’s too hot in the summer in the desert!

  • I’m taking my bestie to Palm Springs next month and can’t wait! I’m an old soul at heart too so your post just got me even more pumped! Now even an old soul loves her fair share of shopping so we’ll be hitting up LA as well-any recommendations for stores or great shopping locations? Btw love your blog and youtube channel

So fun!! I love Topanga Mall in Woodland Hills. It’s honestly my favorite mall in the world because it’s so massive and has everything you could possibly need. I also love to shop on Melrose for more eclectic pieces. Have a blast on your trip! xo
