hair care friday – dry shampoo

hair care friday – dry shampoo

I’ve been getting a lot of questions recently regarding my hair and what products I use.. So I’m starting a new series where I’ll give you my favorite hair products and even test a few new ones for you. This series will be posted every Friday for my “Hair Care Fridays” series.
I’ve had long hair my. entire. life. And let’s be honest.. Washing and drying long hair is a total pain in the butt plus just dries my hair out. So how many times a week should you wash your hair? Isn’t that the million dollar question? I always want hair that smells amazing, but I also want healthy hair. How do you get both?
Let’s talk frequency.. I don’t believe there’s a right answer for how often you should wash your hair that works for everyone since we all have different hair types. There’s curly hair, dry hair, fine hair.. The list goes on and on. For me, the best answer for washing my hair is 2-3 times per week. We all know the less you wash and heat style your hair, the less damaged it will be, so I try to give my hair a break as often as I possibly can. I try to air dry my hair whenever possible.
So how do you make your hair look freshly washed on those in-between days? Two magical words.. Dry shampoo. I’m a major fan of dry shampoo! Here’s my review of several well known dry shampoo brands.

Psssssst ($5.99) was the very first dry shampoo that I tried several years ago. I bought it initially to add volume to my hair.. Big hair don’t care! This is really great for adding a blast of volume. I never bought a second bottle because I just couldn’t get over the odor. The smell isn’t foul, it’s just not as fresh and clean as I would like. For the price point, it’s a good product.
I’d rate Psssssst 3/5 due to the smell.

Tigi Bed Head Rockaholic ($20.99) I’ve had for quite some time but have only used two times that I can recall. It’s probably my least favorite dry shampoo. The smell isn’t especially attractive and it leaves my hair feeling sticky. Unfortunately the negative outweighs the positive for this product, and it also happens to be the most expensive of the dry shampoos that I’ve tried. In my opinion, it’s just not worth the price.
I’d rate Rockaholic 1/5.
Victoria’s Secret So Sexy Dry Shampoo ($14) is my #1 pick for dry shampoos. I mean.. I love the smell! But to be fair, I love the smell of the entire So Sexy hair care line. It removes every bit of oil from your hair. It gives you loads of volume. It makes your hair feel as though it’s been pretty freshly washed. I love everything about this product! There is one downside to this dry shampoo though, the packaging. I’ve had to return the past two bottles to the store because a couple of uses into the bottles, the sprayer just stopped working altogether. It’s extremely disappointing. The last time I returned the bottle, the Victoria’s Secret employee helping me said they actually no longer carry the dry shampoo in their stores and it may be because of the poor quality of the spray bottle. Here’s hoping they fix the problem and get this back in the stores!
I’d rate So Sexy a 4/5. If there was no issue with the sprayer, it’d definitely be a 5/5.
Last, but not least, is Got 2b Rockin’ It Dry Shampoo ($6.49). This is a fabulous dry shampoo. The spray is very white and powdery when applied, which freaked me out the first time I used it.. But it dried perfectly! It’s smell is very much like baby powder. I get the exact same results as I do with So Sexy. It’s very reasonably priced. This would be my #1 recommended dry shampoo due to the results you get and the price point. I’ll definitely continue to use Rockin’ It.
I’d rate Rockin’ It 5/5.
So what is your favorite dry shampoo brand? Leave it in the comments!

    Hi Angela!
I want to say I'm very glad you're beginning to change the style of your blog. You're done! Now about your post-I have never tried to try dry shampoos (most likely one of the reasons was my inability to use, and I was always afraid that the hair will look like greasy) but after your review of dry shampoo, you gave me a reason to go to the store and to finally try that something new for my hair.
At the moment, I have short hair (or rather bob) and I often experiment with hair coloring (highlighting, coloring and trying to get a good Ombre), so I would very much like to see your new post about oils or mask or other care for colored hair or about how to give your hair volume (I have thin hair).
Thank you in advance and looking forward to an exciting continuation of the fashion world in your blog))))))

I'd love for you to review Living Proof's style extender. I'm dying to see if it really holds a blow-out for several days.
